Finding Myself in the Middle of the Glamour: Life as a Personal Trainer in Dubai

Living in Dubai as a personal trainer has been a bit of a roller coaster—though honestly, I prefer the amusement park kind over the emotional ones. I moved here to train women in their homes, passionate about helping others feel strong and healthy. What I didn’t expect was how much the environment would challenge my sense of self.
Dubai is stunning. The people are stunning. Everywhere you look, there's beauty—enhanced beauty. Botox, lip fillers, body injections, designer labels, luxury cars. The pressure to keep up is real, and for a while, I fell into it. I bought the clothes, tried the makeup, did what I could to blend in—but none of it felt like me.
A close friend who visits often once said, “Every time I come here, I feel more insecure.” And I get it. I’ve felt that way too.
But now, two years in, the roller coaster feels more like the kids' version—the dips aren’t as steep, and I’m not constantly feeling like the odd one out. I’ve learned (and am still learning) that my worth isn’t tied to what I do or how I look. It’s not in my job title, not in my clothes, not in comparison.
And that’s what I want to pass on: you don’t have to be anyone but yourself. Showing up as you—real, imperfect, and authentic—is more than enough.
If you’re a woman trying to navigate identity and self-worth in a world full of filters and pressure, you’re not alone. I see you. And I’m here to walk with you.
